Reading: If it is not the government's decision to significantly limit support for new solar projects this year, China's demand will not drop to 29 GW to 35 GW.

EnergyTrend said yesterday that China's solar energy demand is expected to reach only 31.6 GW this year, a 40% drop from 2017, and the global market will also be affected, falling to 92GW-95GW.

The green energy research department from Taiwan's TrendForce also stated that if it is not the government's decision to significantly limit support for new solar projects this year, China’s demand will not drop to 29 GW to 35 GW.

The Photovoltaic New Deal, announced on May 31, 2018, set a limit of 10 GW for distributed generation projects and cancelled the utility-scale solar target for the year. It is expected that the bid will replace the FiT system. At the same time, the central government also hopes to leave support for solar energy in the provinces.

EnergyTrend warned that the oversupply in the photovoltaic (PV) industry will be aggravated by changes in China's policies. The price has started to fall.

The research company expects global solar energy will drop by 5% to 8%. It is expected that until the new market will emerge in 2019, market demand will not return more than 100GW.
