Watt (Power Unit)
Watt is the power unit of the International System of Units. Watts are defined as 1 Joules per second (1 J/s), the rate of energy converted (used in joules) per second that is converted, used, or dissipated. In the electrical unit system, it is the volt-by-ampere ampere power factor (1V·A, abbreviated as 1 volt ampere).

In daily life, kilowatts are more commonly used as units,
1 kilowatt = 1000 watts;
1 megawatt (MW) = 1,000 kilowatts = 1,000,000 watts.
1 gigawatt (GW) = 1,000 megawatts = 1 billion watts.

Unit conversion: Watt is named after James Watt, a British scientist who has made significant contributions to the development of steam engines. This unit name was first adopted by the 2nd meeting of the British Association for the Advancement of Science in 1889. In 1960, the 11th meeting of the International Metrology Conference adopted Watt as the unit of medium power in the International System of Units. People often use power units multiplied by time units to represent energy. For example, 1 kWh is the energy consumed by an energy-consuming device with a power of 1 kW in one hour, equal to 3.6*1,000,000 joules.
Commonly used formulas are W=UIT; P=W/t

Kilowatts are useful for measuring amounts of electricity used by large appliances and by households. Kilowatt-hours are what show up on your electricity bill, describing how much electricity you have used. One kilowatt (kW) equals 1,000 watts.

Megawatts are used to measure the output of a power plant or the amount of electricity required by an entire city. 1 megawatt (MW) = 1,000 kilowatts = 1,000,000 watts.

Gigawatts measure the capacity of large power plants or of many plants. 1 gigawatt (GW) = 1,000 megawatts = 1 billion watts.
